Winner of the Friends Winter Art Contest

Justin Mejia, 16, is the Grand Prize Winner of the Friends of the Library's Teen/Pre-Teen Winter Holiday Creative Art Contest. He presented a Christmas tree made entirely of pipe cleaners. Grand Prize was $50.00! 2nd place was Kaitlyn Mejia, 11 and 3rd place was Ethan Mejia, 15.

Teen/Pre-Teen Winter Holiday Creative Art Contest and "FOOD FOR FINES" program

We are once again honoring "FOOD FOR FINES" program for the holidays! Donate non-perishable food items to cover the cost of your fine. You receive 50 cents credit for each item you bring in and also help out the local food pantries! Call for more details 903.856.3302.

Remember to enter the Friends of the Library’s Teen/Pre-Teen Winter Holiday Creative Art Contest

Remember to enter the Friends of the Library’s Teen/Pre-Teen Winter Holiday Creative Art Contest. You could win a cash prize. Students in 5th through 12th grades may participate. You are to create your interpretation of the holiday you observe during the winter season. Here are the rules: Use an artificial tree or handmade tree structure as the basis for your creation; it must not exceed 24” high, 24” wide, 14” deep; must not exceed 10 pounds; and must not require electricity. The contest begins November 1 and entries are to be presented to the library by November 30th. Judging will be completed December 2nd. Entries may remain on display in the Public Library through December 16th. There will be cash prizes: 1st place - $50; 2nd place - $25; 3rd place - $15 and 4th place - $10.
