The end of the school year is drawing near. My kids are excited and the teachers are too! I think teachers need the summer off to recoup. Teachers are not paid enough in my opinion. They deal with hundreds of kids a day, including mine, and they are a positive influence in a child's life. So, with the school year ending, the Library is getting ready for Summer Programs. We will post our programs in the Gazette, on Facebook, and our Blog, so stay tuned!

Bri's Book Review of The Glass Sentence by S.E. Grove (The Mapmakers Series; #1.)

First off The Glass Sentence is an awesome name for a fantasy book and this book
deserved an awesome title. Admittedly it was on the longer side, but what can I say? I like my
books long!
Placed in a really unique version of our world, Sophia Tims comes from a long line of
mapmakers, in a world where mapmaking is more than just geographical. Having lost her
parents when she was three she is devastated when the uncle who raised her also goes
missing. Determined to find him she follows an ever more sinister trail of clues and discovers a
link between the two disappearances in her family. Following these clues takes her over land
and sea in well built fantasy world that was one of the book’s best features. Traveling with her
on her journey was a fabulous and colorful cast of characters that never failed to keep me
interested or amused.
The Glass sentence falls solidly into the fantasy genre with some really original time
travel and historical aspects. The plot of the book was quite original also, and to top it all off
there was a wonderful cast of characters. The main character caught the interest and sympathy
immediately and kept it throughout the book. All in all a wonderful read especially for someone
who is just getting into the YA fantasy world.
