It’s no secret that polka music is the happiest form of music on the face of the earth, and I thank you for helping me spread this joy by supporting Pint Size Polkas. My vision is to help your family discover the good, clean fun that you can experience with polka music. Whether you're listening to one of my Pint Size Polkas CDs or in attendance at one of my shows, songs like the "Alphabet Polka," "Numbers Schottische," and "Tiny Bubbles in the Tub" are sure to create an environment that’s both educational and entertaining, inspiring your kids to be excited about learning!

"Uncle Mike", Mike Schneider, is a nationally known accordian player and children's polka musician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He will be performing a fun and educational music program for all ages.

Master Gardeners to present program at Public Library

                This week: July 12th 10am: Master Gardeners program for K-2nd graders (Free)

                                 July 12th  5pm: Free computer literacy classes thru Capital One Grant

                                 July 13th  2pm: Free computer literacy classes thru Capital One Grant

             The Master Gardeners will present a program to K-2^nd graders about planting seeds to raise your own plants. The program will be Thursday morning, July 12^th, at 10 a.m.

The Friends of the Library are selling tickets for a fundraiser through the end of the month for the drawing for a Kindle Fire donated by Capital One Bank.  Tickets are $5.00 each and the drawing is in August. Proceeds will go toward special projects at the Public Library.

Do you know that the library is bursting with free activities this month? Starting Thursday at 10am, the Living Green Baptist Church ladies will read stories to children of all ages. On Thursday afternoon at 2pm, the library is offering Senior Movie Day, with the first movie being “Pajama Game”.  On Friday afternoon, from 2pm until 4pm, the library will offer “E-mail Essentials” as the free computer class through our Capital One Grant. There is much more for June. Check the newspaper weekly and come by the library to pick up a schedule of events today. You do not want to miss any of our special programs this summer.

Story Lady Tuesday; Zooniversity Friday - Come join the fun!

On Tuesday the Story Lady will be at the library at 2pm to read to 2^nd-4^th graders. All ages are welcome but stories are geared to this age group. On Friday, Zooniversity, the teaching zoo that comes to you will present a program at 3pm. Bring your new, non-perishable food items for extra chances during the prize drawings. Also, through this week, you can bring in new, non-perishable food items to pay your fines. Call 903.856.3302 to ask how this works.

We are having great success with our free Basic Computer Classes and low cost advanced classes. There is such a need in this area and if you have not taken advantage of this opportunity, please do so! Future funding is uncertain, so sign up today.

Brett Roberts, Magician (Presented by the Friends of the Library)

Brett Roberts, Magician, performed for 153 people on July 1st in Pittsburg. Adults and children alike had a great time. Brett is truly an awesome performer! He puts on an energetic, fast paced program that really keeps the children's attention. Check out his website!

Our first program, Dru Woods Storyteller and Puppeteer, is today (9th) at 10:30am. This program is sponsored by The Texas Commission on the Arts. Bring your new non-perishable food items for the local food pantries. Refreshments are provided by Cypress Bank.

The next round of Basic Computer Classes will begin on June 30. If you have not taken advantage of this opportunity, please do so now! Future funding is uncertain, so sign up for your chance to take these classes.

We are so excited for our summer activities! The Story Lady will begin her stories on June 7^th at 2p.m. and continue through August 9th at 2p.m. The 1^st and 3rd Tuesdays will be focused stories for preK-1st graders. The 2nd and 4th Tuesdays will be focused stories for 2nd - 4th graders. 10 WEEKS OF STORIES – Come join the fun!
          Sponsored by the Texas Commission on the Arts, our first performance program will be: Dru Woods, Storyteller and Puppeteer on June 9th at 10:30 a.m. Bring in new, non-perishable food items for extra chances to win prizes during our 3 major programs.

Once again, the library will offer the Food for Fines program during June and July. For every new, non-perishable item you donate to the library for our local food pantries, you will receive 50 cents off of your fine amount.

          The library is currently accepting donations to fill the backpacks for our summer drawings. We will need NEW unused school supplies. We are also accepting donations of refreshments so if you would like to donate or sponsor our refreshment table, please contact the library at 903-856-3302.

We are so excited for our summer activities! The library has a great STORY LADY for this summer. Please join us as the Story Lady shares some of her favorite stories. Her weekly schedule will be each Tuesday at 2 p.m., beginning June 7th and continuing through August 9th. The 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month will be stories for preK-1st graders. The 2nd and 4th Tuesdays will be stories for 2nd-4th graders. 10 WEEKS OF STORIES - AWESOME!
 
Sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Texas Commission on the Arts, the performance programs will be: Dru Woods, Storyteller and Puppeteer on June 9th at 10:30 a.m., Brett Roberts Magician on July 1st at 10:00 a.m. and Zooniversity, the teaching zoo that comes to you on July 29th at 3:00 p.m.!

The library is currently accepting donations to fill the backpacks for our summer drawings. We will need NEW unused school supplies. We are also accepting donations of refreshments so iff you would like to donate, please contact the library at 903-856-3302.

We exceeded our goals!!!!!

The public library is experiencing extremely high use this summer. We have exceeded our goals for the summer programs and records continue to be broken. The Friends of the Library funded some great programs this year. We entertained and educated 874 people in our programs, up from 618 last year. Our goal was to give away 40 sets of school supplies this summer, and we were able to give away 50 sets with a nice donation from Swepco/AEP, contributions to our donation jar, and local donations. We were able to offer refreshments at each program due to donations from Cypress Bank and a few key individuals. A huge thank you to all our volunteers without whose help we could not have provided these programs. We also collected approximately 125 pounds of food for local food pantries. In July, we issued new library cards to 35 families and set yet another high circulation record of 8,844 transactions for July, up from the previous of 8,209.
