The OVERDRIVE E-Book and Audiobook service is here!

The Library added Overdrive eBooks AND audio books to its collection in December as part of the Northeast Texas Libraries Digital Consortium.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services Grant Number 475-15015 and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (Impact Grant).
If you are familiar with #Overdrive and would like to start using the system, use the same library number and PIN that you use for your online account.
If you are not familiar with Overdrive, we will be having #classes in January. In the meantime, there is a good help section on the site, so just click the 'Help' question mark!
Type in and choose Pittsburg Camp County Public Library, as this is a shared collection among Northeast Texas Libraries. Every title that each library adds to the shared collection, is available to you!
You are allowed 5 checkouts at a time, but most do not allow early return, so if you put something on reserve, leave one of your available checkouts open, so that when it is available, you can get it. You will be emailed when the reserved title is available and you have a limited number of days to confirm.
There are collections specific to children and teens.
Let us know what you think!
What titles would you like to see in the collection?

What's New in the Library's eBook Service This Month?

What's New in the Library's eBook service this month?

Featured Author: Gina Frangello

Gina Frangello has edited the award-winning fiction magazine Other Voices for over a decade. She is also the Sunday editor of The Rumpus and the fiction editor of The Nervous Breakdown. What happens when a long-time editor starts writing novels? Sensational stories that you can’t put down.

The latest novel from this author is
A Life In Men. It is the soul-searching story of a life-long friendship between two women that ends unexpectedly. Before the reasons for the abrupt departure can be explored, one of them dies of cancer. The sudden passing leaves the remaining friend full of questions, sadness, and a personal search for meaning.

“A stunning novel--Frangello’s broken characters live in a world of terror and redemption, of magnificent sadness and beauty.”
—Kirkus Reviews

“In this bravura performance, a quantum creative leap . . . Frangello astutely dissects the quandaries of female sexuality, adoption, terminal illness, and compound heartbreak in a torrent of tough-minded observations, audacious candor, and storytelling moxie.”
—Booklist

Book Review: The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes

The Girl You Left Behind by Jojo Moyes
reviewed by: Lily Marshall, Library Bookkeeper and Cataloger

Description:
The newest novel by Jojo Moyes shares its title with a fictional painting that serves as a catalyst in linking two loves stories, one set in occupied France during World War I, the other in 21st-century London.

Lily's Review:
The first book I read by Jojo Moyes was Me Before You. Although it was an interesting story on a sensitive subject, I wasn't too fond of the ending and swore I would never read another book by her. When I saw the book The Girl You Left Behind, I thought it was a sequel to Me Before You, but I was wrong. As I was cataloging the book, I was thinking to myself that I needed to give this book a try.

The story is split into two parts that will intercept through time. In France, 1916, Artist Edouard Lefevre leaves his young wife, Sophie, to fight at the front. Their small town falls to the Germans in the middle of World War I . Edouard painted a portrait of Sophie that attracts the new Kommandant.

In an act of desperation Sophie sacrifices her family, her reputation, and her life to see her husband again. I was so caught up in Sophie, that I have to admit I was a little disappointed that the story shifted away from her character. The second part of the story takes place 100 years later. Sophie’s portrait is given to Liv Halston by her husband before he died suddenly. Liv draws strength from the painting day by day and becomes emotionally attached to the girl in the painting. Some of Edouard's family is looking for the same painting.

There is a long-drawn out battle in court, as the two parties fight over who should be the owner of the painting called The Girl You Left Behind.  This book absolutely captivated me. I couldn't put it down. I read it during breaks and lunchtime. I just had to find out what happened next. I recommend this book to everyone who likes historical fiction and Jojo Moyes has become my new  favorite author.
