Online Job Search: a two hour course that will provide students with strategies to conduct an effective online job search. Students will learn how to access job sites on the web, use job search engines, and fill out online applications. Master Gardeners to present program at Public Library

                This week: July 12th 10am: Master Gardeners program for K-2nd graders (Free)

             The Master Gardeners will present a program to K-2^nd graders about planting seeds to raise your own plants. The program will be Thursday morning, July 12^th, at 10 a.m.

The Friends of the Library are selling tickets for a fundraiser through the end of the month for the drawing for a Kindle Fire donated by Capital One Bank.  Tickets are $5.00 each and the drawing is in August. Proceeds will go toward special projects at the Public Library.

ECO (Every Community Online) Offers Low-Cost Computers & Broadband Service

ECO Offers Low-Cost Computers & Broadband Service The Connected Texas "Every Community Online" program is  building steam! Our partnership with the Texas State Library is  now offering both low-cost  computers and broadband  service to people who complete  the self-paced training courses!

Texans who complete the free computer skills training  and fill out a post-training survey can qualify to purchase  a low-cost refurbished computer for as little as $119.00  and home broadband service for as low as $10.00 a month  anywhere that it is available. The Connected Texas ECO program is offered in partnership  with the Texas State Library. Flag Day Story Time Celebration Thursday @ 10 a.m.

Do you know that the library is going to celebrate Flag Day with a very special story time Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m.  Then Thursday afternoon at 5:00 p.m., we have a free computer class at 10am, entitled “The Apps in Your Hand”. Free computer classes this week; new materials in the collection

The free computer class on Friday afternoon, May 18^th from 2pm to 4pm will be “Introduction to Computer Basics and Email”. Saturday morning’s class from 10am until noon will be “Technology Question and Answer” where you can receive help with questions you may have about any type of computer technology.  Thursday evening, May 24^th will be “E-books”. Learn to access and download electronic books onto your computer or other device. These free classes are offered through a grant from Capital One.

"Do You Know" what your Public Library offers?

 Do You Know?

I will be listing a library service in each article that the Pittsburg Camp County Public Library offers.  One of the main responses in a short survey last week was that the members of the community are not aware of all the services the library has to offer. I hope to change that with a new section in my article entitled “Do You Know”.

Do you know that you can request online access to your customer account? Do you know that within your account, you can reserve books, renew books, create a booklist, and create a watch list for your favorite authors? When the library staff adds a book by your favorite author, you receive an email letting you know, and you can immediately reserve it. Always know where your account stands by requesting online access to your customer account.

Amy Harrel, our computer instructor, has put together a schedule for April for the Computer Courses the Pittsburg Camp County Public Library will be offering. Please let your adult friends and family members know that they are welcome to come with you to attend these courses.
