There is a lot happening at the Library. We have an awesome addition to our services list. Thanks to the Tocker Foundation's Public Computing Grant, our new public printer, along with Wi-fi printing is up and running and available now. You can now print from your own laptop, iPad/iPhone or Android tablet or smartphone. Come in and let us show you how.
We are in the process of adding records for all our ebook collection. When complete, this will allow patrons to search ONE catalog for both physical holdings inside the building and our e-books, accessible through the internet. This will make a better search experience.

It is really busy at the library and we are happy so many of you are using YOUR library. We offer ESL classes on Saturday morning, GED classes on Friday afternoons, Family Literacy classes on Thursday afternoons, Computer classes on Friday mornings, and story time every Thursday afternoon at 4pm. Story time lasts about 30-40 minutes and we have some fabulous volunteers that read to your children. Work us into your after school schedule; we would love for you to join us.
And lastly, we were so sorry to hear of the loss of our friend and local author Nancy Bell. Nancy wrote the 'Biggie' series of light small town mysteries. I recognized so many of the characters in those books and it made it so fun. I knew Nancy a long time and really liked her. We will miss her.

Come in out of the cold and take advantage of the new
technology the Pittsburg Camp County Public Library offers you. The new public
access computers, that the library received through a generous grant from the
Tocker Foundation, are installed and working great. We have chosen the Linux
based Userful system with authentication, which means that we will issue Internet
Use Cards so you can login with your own number. This will automate the process
much better. And, you can still use Microsoft Office products through this new
system by creating an online account at outlook.com. Thank you to the Tocker Foundation and
Userful Computer Solutions for hooking us up!
Userful is a Green Solution. It reduces CO2 emissions and electronic
waste, reducing CO2 emissions by up to 15 tons per year and reduces electronic
waste by up to 80%. Reducing the number of computers in use has additional
earth-friendly benefits. Electronic waste is an increasing problem globally due
to the quick obsolescence of electronics. This is compounded by the fact that
computer waste is high in many toxic materials such as heavy metals and
flame-retardant plastics, which easily leach into ground water and
bio-accumulate.

will be closed Saturday, December 21 through Wednesday, January 1 for the Christmas
and New Year’s holiday and to complete some scheduled maintenance. Please come in

Beginning Thursday May 3rd, volunteers from Living Green Baptist
Church will be present to read to children from 10 a.m. til 11 a.m. Bring your
children so they can enjoy this special time.

local author book signings? Our first one will be Friday May 4th from
10 a.m. til 12 p.m. Authors in
attendance will be dart, Lynn Hobbs, Patty Wiseman and Eddie Hancock II.

computer classes start on Friday afternoon May 4th from 2pm to 4pm.
The subject will be “Introduction to Computer Basics and Email”. Thursday night
May 10th from 5pm to 7pm will be “Tablets: Kindle, iPad, etc. –
Question and Answer”. On Friday
afternoon May 11th from 2pm to 4pm the subject will be “Technology
Question and Answer”. This will be a time to receive help with questions you
may have about any type of computer technology. These free classes are offered
through a grant from Capital One.

The Pittsburg Camp County Public Library will offer free computer literacy classes again this week. Thursday evening, April 26th from 5-7 p.m., there will be Introduction to the Internet and Internet Safety. On Friday afternoon, April 27th, from 2-4 p.m., there will be a Table Q&A class. Bring your tablet to get individual assistance. On Saturday morning, April 28th, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., there will be an Introduction to Basics of Computer and Email. Take advantage of these great learning opportunities.
