Dr Deaton to sign books Friday, July 20th at 10 am / Dr. Deaton para firmar libros Viernes, 20 de julio a las 10 am


                Dr. John Deaton will be at the library on Friday, July 20th to sign copies of his new book, "The death of Maria Chavarria". Come out to visit Dr. Deaton as he visits Pittsburg friends.
                FREE Basic computer classes (funded by Capital One Grants) will be on Thursday at 5:00 pm and Friday at 2:00 pm this week. Come out to receive help in using the computer.
The Friends of the Library are selling tickets for a fundraiser through the end of the month for the drawing for a Kindle Fire donated by Capital One Bank.  Tickets are $5.00 each and the drawing is in August. Proceeds will go toward special projects at the Public Library.
We need a bilingual person to volunteer 2 to 4 hours each week to help translate. We need it to be on the same day each week, so customers know when they can come in and have help in both English and Spanish. If you are bilingual and can help the library with volunteering, please call us at 903-856-3302.
We have many new popular books, audio books, and movies. Come see what you are missing!

Master Gardeners to present program at Public Library


                This week: July 12th 10am: Master Gardeners program for K-2nd graders (Free)

             The Master Gardeners will present a program to K-2nd graders about planting seeds to raise your own plants. The program will be Thursday morning, July 12th, at 10 a.m.

New Large Print Fiction

 We have awesome news. The free Beginner Computer Class was full on Friday Feb. 3 and the continuation will be on Friday Feb. If you missed this class and would like to attend the next Beginner class, please contact the library 903-856-3302 or come by and sign up. Also, our free Google Documents Class is full for Saturday Feb. 11, but we will offer another free class soon. This class covers the topic of using Google Documents, (Google Docs) which is a similar program to Microsoft Office programs such as Microsoft Word. If you missed this class and would like to attend the next Google Docs class, please call 903-856-3302 or come by the library to sign up. These classes are made available to the public for free through a Capital One Grant.
We will be offering other courses covering other topics and more beginner courses at different times throughout the months to come. When we get these scheduled they will be posted in the Pittsburg Gazette or you can call the library and ask for further information.
