Go vote. November 6th
is Election Day. I exercised my right to
vote early. Turnout is expected to be very heavy for this Presidential
election, so consider voting early. There have been lines and wait time even to
vote early. Consider this. What will conditions be like on Election Day,
November 6th? When you vote early, you pick the day and time. You pick
when you feel your best, when the weather is best, and when you are already
making a trip to town. It is a great
option for many voters.
Voting is serious business. Do your own research on the matter. Be polite
when you show up to vote. We all have
different opinions, but the polls are not the time or place to espouse your
political views. In fact, there are
usually signs asking you not to. Give all voters the same respect. If you
encounter a problem with casting your ballot, be kind but firm in your resolve
to exercise your right to vote.
Remember, the right to vote wasn't just handed to Americans. They had to
fight for it. This is a right sometimes taken for granted, but the ability for
everyone to be able to vote did not appear overnight. It took decades. The
Voting Rights Act of 1965 is widely considered a landmark in civil-rights
legislation, though some of its provisions have sparked political controversy.
In 2006, 41 years after the Voting Rights Act passed, Congress, with
bi-partisan support, voted to extend the Act for 25 years with its original
enforcement provisions left intact. The bill to renew the Act was passed by the
U.S. House of Representatives on July 13, 2006 by a vote of 390-33, with
support from Republican House leadership, led by Judiciary Committee Chairman
F. James Sensenbrenner, Jr. The U.S. Senate passed the bill 98–0 on July 20,
2006. President George W. Bush signed the bill in a morning ceremony on the
South Lawn of the White House on July 27, 2006, one year in advance of the 2007expiration
date.

La biblioteca en tiempo de hosts historia el primer jueves

pesado para esta elección presidencial, por lo que considerar la votación
